Fruits can help all of us with our emotional and mental well-being! Here’s what I found, that you may want to try:
1. Pineapple can help improve your mood.
Pineapple can help lower your depression and anxiety.1 Pineapples also have a lot of amino acid tryptophan, which help the body produce serotonin (one of the main “happy hormones” of the body).2 It can also help relieve stress because they contain high levels of vitamin C.3
2. Bananas can make you feel happier.
Whether you eat it, ripe bananas have natural sugars like fructose, sucrose, and glucose.2, 4 Like pineapples, bananas also have serotonin to help you feel generally happier.1, 3, 5
3. Avocados can lower your risk of depression.
Avocados contain high levels of folate3, 6, 7, which is a vitamin, and may help to reduce your chances of having depression.6It’s because folate helps to keep the build-up of homocysteine from occurring.3, 6, 7 (Homocysteine = a substance that can impair circulation and delivery of nutrients to the brain, as defined by Medical News Today)
4. Mangoes can help relax your muscles.
Mangoes have lots of magnesium. This is really helpful for your heart since it helps your muscles relax more.7 When your muscles are more relaxed, “your heart recover better in between beats,” as Helen Nichols of Well-Being Secrets says.7 Mangoes also have lots of vitamins, lipids, antioxidants, minerals, and amino acids, and are high in fiber, all of which can helpful for a positive outlook.8
5. Kiwis can help reduce stress.
Kiwis are high in vitamin C9, 10, 11 and contain twice as much as oranges9. Vitamin C helps reduce stress9, 10 and anxiety10, and if you eat two kiwis daily, you can experience less fatigue and depression than if you only eat half of a kiwi each day9.
