Enjoy Your Time When You’re Alone

Someone Sitting Alone

While having friends is amazing, as I mentioned in my last post, there may be times you would find yourself alone for whatever the reason is.

Being alone doesn’t have to be lonely. Enjoy yourself, even when you are alone!

Here are five ways you can try to enjoy yourself when you are by yourself:

1. Learn something you are very interested in learning about.

There are so many different things to learn, and you don’t know how interesting it would be for you until you try learning about it. Whether it’s something you can learn through watching YouTube videos, taking a class somewhere, learning from a friend or family member, or another way, if you have even the slightest interest in it, try going out and learning it. Even if you don’t enjoy it as much as you think you would, at least you learned about something new!

2. Watch a movie or a TV show you like.

Whether you are watching a show on TV, a show or a movie on your preferred streaming service or on YouTube, or going to a movie theater alone to watch a movie, watch a movie or TV show you like. You will (hopefully) enjoy what you’re watching, and next time you interact with people, you will also have something to talk about!

3. Read a book.

Find a book you enjoy, and read it. Maybe it’s a book that’s longer or shorter than you would normally read, and that’s okay. Reread one of your favorite books to enjoy it again, and maybe have a drink to enjoy as you read. Read where you’re comfortable, whether you’re at home, in the park, on the beach, or another place you enjoy going.

4. Journal.

Try journaling. There are so many things to write about, like what you’re thinking about at the time; how your day is going; your dreams, goals, and aspirations; how you’re feeling; what you’re up to; and so much more. Later, you can go back and reread each journal entry and remember moments of your life that you otherwise may forget.

5. Go for a walk.

Whether you walk up, down, and all around your house, around your neighborhood, in a park, in a mall, or any other place you like to walk, when you’re alone, you can go for a walk. Even if you’re used to walking with others, you may find that going for a walk alone can also be enjoyable. Want more reasons to go for a walk?
