Afraid? Reasons Not to Be (and What You Can Do Instead)

Happy Halloween!

Do you feel afraid because of Halloween or other reasons? As Dale Carnegie once said, “If you want to conquer fear, don’t sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.” Here are five good reasons to not be afraid and things to do instead:

1. You are amazing.

It’s time to believe in who you are, if you haven’t started already. There are so many things you can do – you just have to give yourself credit and believe in yourself.

2. You can succeed.

If you fail once, that doesn’t mean you’re always going to fail. I saw something in my dorm this past year that said, “The sun will rise and we will try again.” We have the chance to try again. We have the opportunity to not allow our failures to stop us from being successful and achieving our goals.

3. You have people to support you.

Whether it’s your friends, family, neighbors, or others, there are people cheering for you on and want you to be happy. If you feel afraid, they’ll be there to help you out.

4. Don’t wait to do something you want to do.

If there’s something you want to do, either do it now, or put it in your schedule. Don’t put it off. You’ll be happier that you did it, and it’ll give you something to talk about and show.

5. Go out and enjoy the holiday!

Halloween only comes once a year. Sometimes, it’s nice to get in the spirit with everyone else. On a day where people dress up and get out of their homes, the spirit is lively, even if there’s something eerie going on. Go enjoy it.
