It’s the day after Christmas, and there are only five more days left in 2018. In six days, it’ll be a new beginning. Here are some things to look forward to as we approach the new year:
1. Time to set a new goal.
Is there something you’ve been trying to do or learn? Make it a goal to do that in 2019. That way, you not only finish the task or learn something new, but you also can look back at 2019 later and remember what you achieved.
2. 365 days to try something new.
Is there something new or interesting you’ve been wanting to try for a while? If you don’t have time in the five days 2018 has left, at least 2019 will give you 365 new days to try whatever you want to try.
3. An annular (ring-shaped) solar eclipse will be visible from South Asia.
According to Wikipedia, the solar eclipse will be on December 26, 2019, exactly one year from today. If you’re interested in watching, are you ready to get your tickets?
4. A new school year or chapter of your life?
Within each calendar year, one school year comes to a close and the next one starts a few months later. You get to learn more and meet new people. You get to develop new relationships or strengthen old ones.
If you’re a senior in high school, you get to graduate and have the opportunity to start college, take a gap year, or forge your own path. If you’re a senior in college or grad school, you get to graduate and have the opportunity to go to pursue even higher eduction, start a job, start a business, or something you choose to do.
5. Make new memories.
While it’s nice to treasure the old memories you’ve made this year and in the past, it’ll feel great to remember the next trip you go on, the good grades you get, the diploma you’ve been working so hard to earn, the new friends you make, the new job you get, or whatever else may happen in 2019.
2019 is waiting to happen. What are you looking forward to?
Have a healthy and happy new year, and don’t forget to Smile 4 a While!
