“Every day is a good day to be alive, whether the sun’s shining or not.”
~ Marty Robbins
Whether you notice or not, good things happen every day. From someone smiling at you, the traffic light being green when you get there, flowers blooming around you, to a quiet day in the park, there are infinitely many subtle acts and happenings going on every day.
While everything in the world isn’t perfect, think about all the good things that are happening right now.
1. Don’t forget the flowers!
There are flowers all around you, whether they’re wildflowers along the highway, in your local park, in front of and in your house (and/or your neighbors’), or anywhere in your town.
2. You aren’t as likely to have a cold right now.
According to the Mayo Clinic, you’re more likely to get a cold in the fall or winter, so enjoy your time sick-free as much as you can. You don’t want to wish you can go back to this time later. Have fun and make some memories, so that in times of colds and other sicknesses, you can think about these memories to help yourself feel better.
3. Next Wednesday is Independence Day!
While celebrating our nation’s 242nd birthday next week, enjoy the fireworks, the food, the parades, and the liveliness of the country that is here. It’s a day off for everyone, so don’t forget to spend time with family and friends and have fun.
4. The days are still pretty long.
During the summer, because of the Earth’s tilt (23.4°), the days in the Northern Hemisphere are longer, so we get more sunlight to enjoy at this time of year. Take advantage of the extra sunlight, and go do more while you have that light. It’s the more eco-friendly thing to do anyways.
5. Enjoy what’s going on in your local community.
Whether you live in a city or a rural community, there’s usually something going on. Throughout the summer, communities put on fireworks to celebrate Independence Day, cities usually have concerts, some local parks put on plays, some children in your neighborhood may be selling lemonade on hot days, and some communities have their own, unique activities and traditions. Find out what’s going on in yours!
Every day is great! There are so many reasons to enjoy what’s going on around you. Experience what’s happening and make memories along the way!
